So, I just finished watching “Out of Time” with Denzel Washington, etc. 2 things are ringing in my head. It has been a while since I have blogged anything so I thought this would be good to share.
#1 Be sure your sins will find you out. Most of us can attest to this from things in our own lives where we tried to cover up our sin and hide it from others. Then when the truth was discovered we were in deeper than when we started. This movie makes clear the truth that you can't run from your sin. It will catch up with you. It is a good reminder that when we become aware of sin we should confess it and embrace the forgiveness of Christ. Don't buy into the lie that you can cover it with deception. God always knows anyhow and it is He that is to be feared most!
#2 “Don't leave your wife.” After the twisted plot of everyone betraying each other Denzel makes a simple statement to his friend. He realizes that had he done the right thing to begin he would not have been in the heat of the fire.
Eph 5:25 Husbands,
love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it;
Col 3:19 Husbands,
love [
your]
wives, and be not bitter against them.
I don't often talk about the things I learn from movies, but sometimes there is such great truth reflected in them that it just needs to be said. My friends confess your sins to Jesus instead of covering them in deception. And, Love your wife! Great reminders to myself here as well!
