A few years ago I become aware of the fact that it is truly amazing how long our Creator allows us to live.  So early in life we begin to rebel against Him.  These body's we are encased in wreak with depravity and are so far from their potential.  It is often hard to believe (but I certainly do) that we humans are made in the image and likeness of God.  It is so easy to see our failure, weakness, depression, and sorrow.

Today I want to publicly acknowledge my thankfulness to Jesus Christ for creating, sustaining and preserving my littlest girl Grace.  She turns 1 today.  We had an incident a couple months ago where she got a penny lodged in her throat and she could have easily died.  Her life was spared from that.  What is truly amazing though is not that God spares us from accidents, but that His Grace is sufficient to spare us from the incredible wrath we earned for ourselves by not trusting and following Him.

Thank you Jesus for your great love and the grace which you constantly pour out on us.  We do not deserve it!  I do not deserve it!

My word Cory, much more of that and I will have to start refering to you as a Calvinist/Protestant.

God willing she lives many more happy years.

Thank God we all made it through childhood. (Who ever came up with lawn darts anyway?)

I know it's cool to be Christian and all now. Don't get me wrong, I voted for Bush...twice...but, posts like this make me wish folks would keep their personal lives out of largely-work-related-to-date blogs like yours.

The content of this post is unique compared to most of your other posts. I realize you have feeds on a per category basis but, I'm not subscribing to all those...PITA

That said, I'm happy your daughter is/was OK and you appreciate what happened and you love your kids!

Mike and anyone else who may be reading. This blog is my personal space. I am not trying to be a hot technology blog. I try to share things that I am passionate about and so far that sharing has been mostly technology. My life consists of many things. Some people chose to keep distinct blogs. I chose to roll most of public expression into a single site. Reason #3 for naming this blog Option Strict is LIFE: Truth is not relative, optional, or determined by popular opinion. It is very likely that I will post information here about my experience with house churches as well. You can ignore my Jesus Freak posts or chose not to aggregate my site.

Concerning the Bush comment, equating Christianity with being republican is a huge mistake. One thing you are likely not to find here is much politics. For now I chose not to be involved in that arena. I reserve the right to change that over time. Also, I am not sure about Christianity being cool. Perhaps some pop-culture club Jesus crap may be hip with some. I don't know many though who are really acting Christ-like. He ate with sinners, tax collectors and prostitutes without becoming a sinner he was a true friend to them. He gave his life for other people entirely. If you know people who looking to give all of themselves to serve others and you think they are cool then great. For me it is a very simple following of Jesus and letting Him lead my life.

Forget Mike, Cory. I appreciate you sharing absolutely anything you wish to on your blog. After all, it is YOUR blog. I, for one, respect other people's opinions/morals/religion and don't judge people for that. It seems to me that quite the number of people forget that blogs are SUPPOSED to be personal. Without personality, you might as well be reading CNN.

Don't forget my comments. I checked back here because I'm not just flaming or giving you a hard time.

Don't take what I'm trying to say the wrong way.

I am not trying to affect your beliefs or convictions. Blogs CAN be personal. I write one for my daughter (that's personal). In the past, I did one for a college project...it was not personal. It would have been inappropriate for me to make an entry like the one you made in that blog. Why? Context. Context, Context, Context.

When you talk about your spiritual life on your dedicated personal site readers (your friends and people you associate with) assume sincerity in your writing. When you talk about your spritual life on your 99% technology related blog readers (people you may not know) take in your writing with a lot of suspicion.

What I'm saying is, someone like me wouldn't bother aggregating your personal site. Just your 'work' site. Instead, mixing and matching content means I won't aggregate/read the site at all. I miss out, you get fewer readers, less community involvement, less feedback, etc, etc, etc.

FWIW.

So following Mike's logic, should we boycott all professional athletes who make religious or personal statements/gestures while on camera during a "non personal" broadcast? Does this expression of personal feelings make their contribution any less real or important?

Dude,

"It is often hard to believe (but I certainly do) that we humans are made in the image and likeness of God."

We lost this about 6000 years ago, I hope you're aware of that.

"What is truly amazing though is not that God spares us from accidents, but that His Grace is sufficient to spare us from the incredible wrath we earned for ourselves by not trusting and following Him."

True, true...

But don't forget that He doesn't 'spare' all of us, but allows a lot of us to live on earth, while we can do nothing but greatly enlarge the debt we have and enlarge the distance that's between us and our Maker. He spares His children though from everyone going completely insane, totally giving in to our deepest and inner needs and wants, which is nothing more than hate against everyone, especially God Himself. I believe the love we can feel for our kids, is nothing more but a gift, which we indeed should be very thankful for! Something we tend forget a lot.

Keep up with your weblog and expressing personal stuff. You're doing great!
